The Kitchen on the Iowa State Fairgrounds
Take the guesswork out of choosing and preparing the perfect cut of beef or pork. Making the Cuts: Preparing Your Own Farm-to-Table Meal will take place at The Kitchen on the Iowa State Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 20.
Participants will learn how choosing local will soon be made easier with the help of Choose Iowa, the state's new signature brand for Iowa grown, Iowa raised and Iowa made products. Hear from Ty Gustafson, owner of the Story City Locker, on his direct-to-consumer processing and how it is as farm-to-table as meat can get. Meet Joe Brewer, a local cattle and hog farmer, who will tell how his fifth-generation family farm sells direct to consumers, and enjoy a meal sourced locally by Andrea Love of Dinner Delights. Take home new recipes and confidence in choosing the most amazing local food. To cap off this farm-to-table experience, participants will get the chance to grill their own steak!
